Aston Villa fans were not happy with Micah Richards on Saturday afternoon.
The 27-year-old let his side down with yet more poor defending against Sunderland but, of course, he wasn't the only one.
Many are wondering why Richards isn't being played at right-back instead of through the middle. But many understandably want the Villa captain dropped completely.
As much as a lack of quality, a lack of effort and dire attitude have been huge problems at Villa Park.
Richards himself has been mightily culpable in that regard. The Aston Villa players didn't even acknowledge their away fans at Sunderland after their 3-1 defeat and Richards has been too busy embarrassing himself on Twitter in recent weeks, arguing with anyone who has enough front to tell him exactly how badly he's playing.
That's why it was a surprise the Villa skipper took so long to tweet after his side's loss to the Black Cats.
On this occasion, though, Richards took a measured approach - and ate some humble pie.
(1/2)I just want to say to all of you great Villa fans that I can assure you that me, the whole team and everyone at the club will be giving— Micah Richards (@MicahRichards) January 3, 2016
(2/2)absolutely everything from now until the end of the season. There are 18 games to go and we will give everything for the badge! #UTV— Micah Richards (@MicahRichards) January 3, 2016
Does the 27-year-old's message mean anything? Will the Aston Villa squad finally show some fight?
Remi Garde's men are now 7 points behind Sunderland and 11 off safety.
