Gary Lineker comments on Aaron Lennon's goal against Tottenham

A former Tottenham Hotspur player came back to haunt them this weekend.

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to comment on Aaron Lennon’s goal against the North London side this weekend.

Lennon smashed a fantastic shot past Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris midway through the first half at Goodison Park and Lineker quickly reflected on how the ex-Spurs winger will have been feeling about the strike.

In fairness to Lennon he opted not to celebrate his goal after spending most of his career at White Hart Lane, making 364 appearances in the process.

Lennon spent last season on loan at Everton and he made the permanent switch to the Toffees in the summer.

Since then he has featured 11 times for the Merseyside club but his strike against Tottenham was his first goal of the campaign and only his second for Roberto Martinez’s men.

Taking to social media, Lineker said, “Imagine Lennon enjoyed that goal.”

Unfortunately for the hosts they could not hold on until half-time, with Dele Alli equalising for Tottenham with a sublime effort of his own.
