Former Sunderland winger John Oster slams Aston Villa game, says Villans have zero quality

The former Welsh international was not impressed with what he saw.

Sunderland and Aston Villa went head-to-head in a game which, even at this early stage, looks like being a relegation six pointer.

The Premier League's bottom clubs went at it for 90 minutes and in the end there was a winner, Sunderland winning 3-1 at the Stadium of Light.

There was some fairly woeful play in the game, some shocking defending from Villa in particular.

One man who found himself thoroughly unimpressed by the performance of both teams was former Sunderland winger John Oster.

The ex-Wales international spent six seasons with Sunderland and the 37-year-old took to Twitter yesterday to slam the game and throw a barb in the direction of Villa:

He isn't wrong.

The only moment of quality that Villa showed in the game was for the goal, when Carles Gil netted acrobatically from Adama Traore's great solo run and cross. The rest of the game was disappointing for the neutral in regards to style points.

Sam Allardye won't mind though. After a woeful December Sunderland needed a win against their relegation rivals and the result was certainly a fair one.
