Former Birmingham City crock Eddy Gnahore reportedly all set to join Napoli in shock move

The Frenchman has been catching the eye in the Italian third-tier.

Even the more ardent of Birmingham City fans would be hard pushed to remember the name Eddy Gnahore.

The French midfielder joined Birmingham back in 2010 from Manchester City's youth academy and was considered a top talent in the Birmingham team.

He made his first-team debut for Birmingham in January 2012, coming on as a substitute in an FA Cup tie with Sheffield United. Then just 18-years-old, he looked set for big things at St Andrews.

Unfortunately it never quite happened for him in the Midlands. He suffered a sickening knee injury a month later and was then out of action for nearly a year.

After leaving Birmingham City in August 2013 he seemed to vanish but popped up again a year later - joining Italian third tier side Carrarese in July 2014.

Since then, he has been steadily getting back to his best and now, as reported by plenty of sources in Italy this week, he is all set to join Napoli.

The Serie A giants are, according to Il Tirreno and Calcio Mercato, all set to snap up the player who is being compared to Paul Pogba in the Italian press.

It would be quite a turnaround for the Lega Pro based player to go from failed trials with Mansfield Town to fighting for the Serie A title - and Birmingham fans would not begrudge him such success.
