According to a report in The Sun, Newcastle United are plotting a £15 million-plus January move for Marseille’s in-form goalscorer Michy Batshuayi.
Steve McClaren’s side have plenty of ability within their ranks yet poor performances and a return of just 19 goals in 19 league matches have prompted the need to strengthen this month.
And, as per the latest reports in The Sun, Marseille’s in-demand striker Batshauyi is top of their wish-list as they plot a £15 million-plus move for the striker who has 15 goals in 24 appearances this season.
Batshuayi, 22, is currently making a name for himself in the French top flight, scoring 11 league goals and adding five assists in 18 starts despite Marseille struggling in mid-table.
His record has attracted the attentions of a number of top-flight clubs, with the Chronicle also accrediting Tyne-Wear rivals Sunderland with an interest in the talented striker.
Batshuayi is predominantly a centre-forward blessed with quick feet and strong finishing, as demonstrated by his efforts in front of goal both for Marseille and the Belgian national team.
The striker would provide Newcastle with more firepower up front and could give enough ammunition to help the club preserve their Premier League status come the end of the current campaign.
