The German goalkeeper is currently second choice at Barcelona.
Much has been made of the goalkeeping situation at Liverpool in recent times. Simon Mignolet's disappointing performances at the moment and Adam Bogdan has not fared much better when called upon.
Now it seems that Liverpool have earmarked a potentially outstanding signing to fill the problem position. According to a report in RMC Sport in France Liverpool have been in touch with the agent of Marc Andre ter Stegen over a potential move for the Barcelona stopper.
The German is well known to Jurgen Klopp because of his time in the Bundesliga. The German international is not first-choice with Barca. He plays in the cup competitions for the club but Chilean stopper Claudio Bravo in front of him in La Liga.
Barca would however be remiss to let him go. The young German is set to become the Barcelona first-team goalie in the coming years and is also tipped as the biggest rival for Manuel Neuer in the Bayern Munich first-team.
Liverpool would need to splash out a considerable amount of money to snap up the player and Barcelona appear unlikely to let him go.
But if they really are in touch, it shows great ambition and awareness from Liverpool to their current needs.
