The Newcastle icon took to social media after another prolific performance from the on-loan youngster.

Mick Quinn took to Twitter to joke about Adam Armstrong's hat-trick for Coventry City on Saturday afternoon, after the young striker delivered yet another stellar performance for the League One side.

The 18-year-old is on loan from Newcastle United and has been in seriously good form in front of goal for Coventry so far this season.

As such, his loan deal has been extended - at a time when the Magpies themselves are short of goals.

And Quinn joked that the Newcastle-owned 'Goal Machine' must have watched some of the icon's old videos to get some tips.

For Armstrong's development, of course, it looks like staying at Coventry is just what he needs. And there is no guarantee he could net as frequently in the Premier League as he is doing in the Football League.

What Newcastle need is a Charlie Austin type player. Someone like Charlie Austin. Yes, Charlie Austin.

But the Magpies really don't seem keen on the Queens Park Rangers striker and, even if they signed him, they would be admitting they should have done so all the way back last summer.
