The Liverpool player remains a big Leeds fan.
Leeds United are often linked with moves for some of their old stars, in a nostalgic quip to the glory days of past.
One such name is James Milner. The England international is currently with Liverpool but made his name at Leeds - making his debut aged just 16.
He has made no secret in the past of his potential return to Leeds later on in his career and has been speaking this weekend about how he is often asked to return to Leeds.
He told the Yorkshire Evening Post this week:
"That’s a question I get asked so often, all around the globe as well, and that shows what a big club it is and the number of fans.
“I could be in America or I could be in the Far East on tour with the team or in Europe or in Liverpool or Manchester and you get Leeds fans coming up to you saying ‘I’m a Leeds fan, when are you going to come back’. I’ve been to some pretty different places and been asked that question and I always have the same answer. Leeds fans get everywhere.
“You never say never and it’s so hard to say in football what’s going to happen."
It just goes to show what a global hit Leeds remain, that Milner cannot travel freely without being asked to return to Elland Road.
There is no doubt the Leeds fans would love to see Milner back at the club some day, but the fact is they need to get promoted first.
Milner, who turns 30 this week, has a few years of top-flight football left in him yet and the England international is not likely to drop down just yet.
But in the future Milner certainly looks like a player who would be happy to head back to Leeds.
