Louis van Gaal is a manager under pressure at Manchester United, and the team's plight is exacerbated by the fact Jose Mourinho is available for work after being sacked by Chelsea.
The Telegraph report that Mourinho is waiting on the United job before committing his future elsewhere.
If the Portuguese manager did take the job at Old Trafford, could he bring any of his old Chelsea players with him?
Here are three possible players he could return to Stamford Bridge for...
United's attack lacks pace, and with Wayne Rooney not scoring they need a striker with an eye for goal. Loic Remy has proven himself in the Premier League with Newcastle and QPR, and could hope to have similar success to that enjoyed by Louis Saha at Old Trafford. He is on the fringes of the Chelsea squad and for that reason, they could be convinced to sell.
Jose Mourinho pushed to sign Kurt Zouma from St Etienne, and put him straight into last season's Chelsea side which won two trophies. Zouma would improve United's centre-back options, although Chelsea would be reluctant to sell, unless they could acquire a top target of their own. Zouma is certainly a fan, telling Telefoot [reported by Yahoo] just this season that he regards Mourinho as the best manager in the world.
Charly Musonda is rated as one of Belgium's top young talents, and could be even better than Adnan Januzaj. The winger scored at Old Trafford as Chelsea won the Youth Cup against United two seasons ago, but his future is uncertain. The Mirror reported two months ago that Musonda is interesting United as a transfer target, and Mourinho taking over will make their chances of snapping him up more likely.
