Liverpool legend Steve Nicol named his top five strikers in the Premier League on the ESPN FC show on BT Sport/ESPN on Saturday morning (December 26).
This is what former Liverpool defender Nicol had to say about the five strikers he picked:
Sergio Aguero - “I don’t think there is a coach in the world who wouldn’t have him as his number one at the minute.”
Harry Kane - “Listen, this guy is a football player. He links defence and attack, he scores goals, he is a real football player.”
Diego Costa - “Not having the greatest time at the minute, but if you are a centre-back, do you want to play against this guy? This guy will get goals eventually.”
Odion Ighalo - “Again, do you want to play against this guy? He works the two centre-backs, he scores scores like they all do, and he just holds the team together.”
Jamie Vardy - “Speed kills and defenders hate playing against speed. When you have got that pace and you can finish the way he has been, I will take him as well.”
Aguero, an Argentina international striker, has scored seven goals and created seven chances in 12 Premier League appearances for City so far this season.
England international striker Harry Kane has scored 11 goals and created 21 chances in 19 league matches for Tottenham so far this term.
Costa, who plays for the Spain national team, has scored five goals and created 14 chances in 15 Premier League games for Chelsea so far this campaign.
Ighalo has scored 14 goals and created 18 chances in 19 Premier League games for Watford so far this season.
