Report: Tottenham Hotspur making move for Daniel Didavi in Lewis Holtby fashion

The VfB Stuttgart star is believed to be on the radar at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be stepping up their interest in VfB Stuttgart attacker Daniel Didavi, and a move might happen in January.

Didavi is out of contract in the summer and it has been reported that Spurs were in the frame to bring him in on a Bosman deal at the end of the current campaign.

The talented 25-year-old has been in good form in the Bundesliga this season and is seen as a archetypal Mauricio Pochettino signing.

Welt Fussball is reporting that Spurs are indeed looking to bring in the player on a Bosman deal, but that Stuttgart want to sell him this month.

That could lead to Spurs negotiating a contract with the player first, before agreeing a fee with Stuttgart should the player decide to head to White Hart Lane.

That would of course be the exact situation to what happened when Lewis Holtby joined the club.

He agreed a free transfer to Spurs from Schalke to be completed in the summer of 2013 - but Spurs then paid a small fee to bring him in six months early, a fee Schalke were more than willing to take.

Didavi is a German under-21 international who has scored eight goals in 18 appearances for Stuttgart this season.
