Inter's former captain has fallen well out of favour at San Siro.
Norwich City have seemingly taken little time to get involved in the January transfer window, after BBC Sport reported that the Canaries had made a £7.3m offer for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.
The Italy international was made Inter's captain at the start of last season. However, the armband was taken off him at the start of this campaign, with Roberto Mancini making striker Mauro Icardi the club's new skipper.
And on top of losing the captaincy, the centre-back has also found his place in the side largely taken away from him this term. Although he has made 10 appearances in Serie A, he has started just one game, with Mancini preferring to use Miranda and Jeison Murillo at the heart of the back four.
BBC Sport suggests that while the Nerazzurri are unsurprisingly unlikely to stand in Ranocchia's way if he is offered the opportunity to leave San Siro, the 27-year-old is currently undecided about whether he wishes to make the switch to Carrow Road.
While he would almost certainly play a much bigger role as part of Alex Neil's side, he may be concerned about how the Canaries' fortunes may impact on his chances of establishing himself in Antonio Conte's Italy side, especially with the European Championships just around the corner.
