Newcastle United could miss out on Bordeaux winger Henri Saivet, according to The Chronicle.
It has been reported by the British newspaper that Saivet has expressed concern about Newcastle’s position in the Premier League table.
The Magpies are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
“Saivet ideally wants to play for a team playing in European competition but does have admiration for the Premier League,” states the report in The Chronicle.
“Sources in France claim that while Newcastle chief scout Graham Carr has had dialogue with Saivet’s representatives the winger is worried about joining a club heading for the Championship.”
Newcastle are not the only Premier League club who are reportedly interested in signing Saivet in the January transfer window.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Swansea City and Bournemouth all are keeping an eye on the Senegalese, while The Sun reported last month that Southampton want him (click here to read more).
