There were two 17-year-olds playing a big part in Arsenal first-team training on New Year's Day.

Indeed, Chris Willock and Jeff Reine-Adelaide blended in with the senior side as is so often the case at London Colney. One thing the club have always done well is integrate youth throughout the season.

Reine-Adelaide was one of Arsenal's Emirates Cup heroes in the summer, along with Alex Iwobi - also on show in training on Friday. Dan Crowley, too, joined in.

The youngsters aren't over-used by the north London side and only make semi-regular appearances in first-team training, which allows them to benefit from the experience of those above them without being thrown in at the deep end.

As for Arsenal's senior players, the Gunners host Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon and there really shouldn't be any problems there for Arsene Wenger's men.

Of course, you never know in football and Arsenal could well be surprised like Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool were against the Magpies. But slip-ups would really be inexcusable for the north London team at this stage - especially after their 4-0 thrashing at Southampton.

Here's how the club's youngsters fared in training on Friday afternoon:
