Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin has been linked with a move to Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that Bournemouth will struggle to sign Charlie Austin from Queens Park Rangers in the January transfer window.

According to The Daily Star, Bournemouth want to recruit the 26-year-old striker this month. Austin has been on the books of QPR since 2013 and has a contract until the end of the season.

“They (Bournemouth) probably have QPR striker Charlie Austin's number on speed-dial,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport. "However, it may be difficult to attract players who might be wondering what will happen to their contract if Bournemouth head straight back down."

Austin has struggled with injuries this season, but he remains one of the best strikers in the Championship.

The former Burnley star has scored 10 goals and created 17 chances in 16 league matches for QPR so far this season.

The Englishman has a pass accuracy of 63% and a shot accuracy of 49%, and has won 53 headers, nine dribbles and 13 tackles.

Bournemouth are 16th in the Premier League table at the moment with 20 points from 19 matches, just three points above the relegation zone.

QPR are currently 15th in the Championship table with 30 points from 24 games, 10 points behind sixth-placed Ipswich Town.
