Sevilla boss discusses transfer of Tottenham Hotspur outcast Federico Fazio

Bentaleb, Fazio

Unai Emery was the Argentine's boss in Seville.

Federico Fazio's time at Tottenham Hotspur could come to an end this winter.

His last game in the Premier League came last season and the former Sevilla star looks surplus to requirements at Spurs.

The Argentine international has played just once this season, in a Capital One Cup defeat to North London rivals Arsenal.

The arrival of Toby Alderweireld has seen him fall even further down the pecking order and plenty of teams have been linked with his signature - including his former club.

Tottenham signed Fazio from Sevilla in a deal reported by Sky Sports to be in the region of £8 million in August 2014 but he has never adapted to English football.

Now the Sevilla boss Unai Emery has been talking about a potential future approach for their former defensive stalwart.

He is quoted by Football Espana as stating:

“We have the squad to do big things. But for what we need, Monchi is working. We know [Federico] Fazio and we know what he can give.

“But I haven’t asked for anyone in particular because I believe there is an important performance in this squad. When we have someone coming, we’ll talk about it.”

It certainly seems that Sevilla are playing it cool regarding any deal to bring Fazio back to the Sanchez Pizjuan and Spurs would certainly like something more concrete - as the revenue generated could help them improve their seemingly title contending squad.
