Report: Aston Villa and West Brom keen on £7.35m striker Sandro Wagner

West Brom - The Hawthorns

German media believes the Darmstadt striker is on Premier League radars.

Aston Villa are looking all over to bring in some new faces to help them in their fight for survival in the Premier League - but it would also be fair to say that the club are also preparing for what seems to be the inevitable.

One name being linked with a move is SV Darmstadt attacker Sandro Wagner. T-Online are reporting that Villa and local rivals West Brom are interested in the German.

The report claims that Villa and West Brom would have to spend around €10 million (£7.35 million) to bring in the player - who was heavily linked with a move to five Championship clubs in the summer.

At first it was reported that Hull City, Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest were all keen on the then Hertha Berlin striker, as reported by Sport Bild.

T-Online reported that Sheffield Wednesday were also keen on the striker.

Then the obligatory Leeds United interest came, as reported by Tutto Mercato Web.

He ended up swapping Hertha for Darmstadt where he has impressed this season. He has scored five goals in 18 appearances for the newly promoted outfit.

Wagner is a big centre-forward who came through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich and scored four goals in eight games for the German under-21 side.

Aston Villa and West Brom would be rolling the dice on the player, as he has only just rediscovered his best form after a poor spell over the past four or five years.
