Aston Villa should make a move for 2014 World Cup star Guillermo Ochoa to solve 'keeper problem

The Mexican cannot buy a game in Spanish football.

Aston Villa are said to be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper in January. Brad Guzan has struggled this season, in fact he has struggled all year, and Villa are said to be considering their options in the goalkeeper market.

One player that they would do well to look at it Mexican stopper Guillermo Ochoa.

The 30-year-old will be well known to Villa boss Remi Garde. The former Lyon boss and French TV analyst would have seen the stopper during his time with Ajaccio.

The Mexican international was just one of many top goalkeepers who thrived at the World Cup in Brazil back in 2014.

He was a free transfer at the end of that season and was snapped up by Malaga as a replacement for Willy Caballero that summer.

His time in Spain has not been memorable.

Ochoa has played just eight games for Malaga in two years as Carlos Kameni keeps his place between the sticks.

Ochoa would therefore be available in January at the right price and would provide an experienced and exciting replacement for Guzan between the sticks.

Villa should certainly consider Ochoa if they really are in the mood to sign a new 'keeper.
