According to The Guardian, Everton are closing in on a deal to sign Grasshopper Zurich star Shani Tarashaj in January, though he will be loaned back to the Swiss club.
The Toffees lost 4-3 to Stoke City in a remarkable game on Monday afternoon, and whilst the Everton fans will have gone home disappointed, there was one interested onlooker at Goodison Park who doesn't seem to have been too unhappy with the result.
The Guardian report that Grasshopper Zurich playmaker Shani Tarashaj was in attendance at Goodison Park on Monday ahead of a possible deal with Everton.
It's stated that the player's representatives have been in Liverpool this week to negotiate personal terms over the deal, and Tarashaj watched as his potential new employers fell to that 4-3 defeat.
Tarashaj, 20, can play as an attacking midfielder or as a striker, and has hit eight goals in 18 games for Grasshopper this season, having coming up through the ranks with the Swiss club.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez appears to have been suitably convinced that Tarashaj will be one for the future, and a deal is allegedly close - though he won't immediately be a factor on Merseyside.
