Report: Dundee want West Ham United left-back Stephen Hendrie on loan

West Ham Upton Park

The Scotland Under-21 international has yet to feature for West Ham.

In the summer West Ham United picked up a good looking signature in the arrival of Stephen Hendrie from Hamilton Academical.

The Scotland Under-21 international left-back had been in great form for the Accies in his homeland and West Ham beat off plenty of opposition for his signature.

However the defender, who turns 21 next month, has struggled to find regular first-team football at Upton Park and is now being linked with a return to Scotland for the rest of the season.

Scottish Premiership side Dundee are said to be considering a move for the left-back.

The Dundee Telegraph is reporting that Dundee boss Paul Hartley wants the player to strengthen his defensive positions.

Hendrie has not featured at all for The Hammers since his move from Hamilton, with Aaron Cresswell a formidable force in front of him in the pecking order. He cost West Ham £1 million in compensation according to the Daily Mail.

With that in mind Hendrie may indeed crave some regular playing time and Dundee will be able to offer him just that.
