Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson said on the Gillette Soccer Special show on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday afternoon (December 28) that he would choose Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane over Watford’s Odion Ighalo.
“Harry Kane all day,” said Merson when asked who he would choose between Kane and Ighalo.
“Harry Kane is a good player. Ighalo is a good player as well, but I just think Harry Kane - you are talking about Real Madrid.”
Kane enjoyed a breakthrough season at Tottenham in 2014-15 and has carried that form into this campaign.
So far this term, the England international has scored 11 goals and created 21 chances in 19 league matches.
Ighalo scored 20 goals and created 38 chances in 35 Championship appearances for Watford last season.
The 26-year-old Nigeria international striker has scored 14 goals and created 18 chances in 19 Premier League games for the Hornets so far the campaign.
The former Udinese striker has proven to be a good signing for Watford, but Kane is younger and arguably a more rounded player.
Not so long ago Spanish giants Real Madrid were linked with a move for Kane. Back in February 2015, The Daily Mail reported that the 10-time European champions had scouted the Tottenham striker three times.
