The Hammers beat Southampton on Monday to return to winning ways.
The Hammers made an impressive start to their first campaign under Slaven Bilic, with big away wins against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
They have struggled in recent weeks though as a number of big injuries have hit the squad and seriously hampered their form.
A 2-1 win over Southampton on Monday returned them to winning ways though, and Collins says he has told his teammates they can make the top five this season.
“With the draws we’ve had, we’re delighted to get the three points,” he told whufc.com.
“To finish the year with a win, after a little bit of a shaky couple of weeks with the draws, it’s massive for the club. You see the fans in the second half, as soon as we started playing football, they were right behind us.
“One win when it’s so tight is massive. I’ve said to the boys, we’re looking at the top five again now.”
If West Ham are to achieve a top six finish this season, they will surely be keen to get their star players back sooner rather than later.
Key to that will be Dimitri Payet, with the Frenchman having been impressive in the beginning of the campaign and key to the majority of their big victories.
They have suffered without him in the side though; missing the creative and goalscoring threat he has brought to Bilic’s side.
If he can return in the second half of the campaign and pick up where he left off, there is no denying that the Hammers can challenge given the open state of the league this season.
