Sunderland v Liverpool predicted line-ups and match preview

Sunderland are looking to bounce back from recent disappointments against Chelsea and Manchester City, while Liverpool are looking for back-to-back league wins.

To be played on Wednesday 30th December 2015 at 19:45. Venue: Stadium of Light, Sunderland

Odds: Sunderland 19/4, Draw 119/40, Liverpool 8/11

The home side needs a lift in confidence, while the visitors need to leapfrog a couple of sides following results on bank holiday, and keep pace with other sides in pursuit of the top four places.

Despite their recent losses against Watford, Chelsea and Manchester City, Sunderland will be looking at games against the likes of Newcastle and Watford where Liverpool have lost against battling sides - with the latter of the two showing a physical presence can upset the Reds.

One man who has openly said he would love to get himself on the scoresheet for the home side is former Liverpool man Fabio Borini - who has found some form by scoring in each of his last two appearances. The Black Cats are currently seven points from safety and are desperate for the win.

Liverpool bounced back from recent disappointing defeats in the Premier League by overcoming then league leaders Leicester City at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp will be keen for his side to get back-to-back wins.

The Reds boss has said he wants more goals from other areas of the team, while Christian Benteke found himself on the scoresheet. A win for Liverpool would see them go level on points with sixth-placed Manchester United - five points off the Champions League places.
