Agent of Leicester City defender Yohan Benalouane comments on January exit

King Power Stadium - Stormy

It is far from certain that Yohan Benalouane will depart Leicester in January.

Leicester City have had a superb start to the 2015/16 season, but not everything they have done has worked out perfectly.

Yohan Benalouane is a case in point. The centre-back was a summer signing from Italian side Atalanta, but has struggled to make an impact.

He has played in only four Premier League games, combining for just 64 minutes of football, and his most recent Premier League appearance came back in early October.

His agent has played down talk of a January exit, telling Tuttomercatoweb that there is no progress with regard to a return to Italy.

Asked if a transfer was imminent, Daniel Striani said: "Definitely not, nor is it so obvious that he leaves Leicester City in January."

Quizzed specifically about interest from Sampdoria, he responded: "There was a conversation, but nothing more. Neither Leicester nor Sampdoria were decided a deal. We'll see, but it is not a hot deal."

Benalouane's struggle has come about mainly due to Leicester's excellent form this season, leaving him with little time to prove his worth.

Given how excellently the club have been performing this season, it could be a shame if he fails to see the season out, as if the Foxes are to achieve an unlikely top four finish, they will need a strong squad, and he could yet play an important role down the stretch.
