Federico Fazio's Tottenham future is in doubt.
Tottenham defender Federico Fazio is likely to leave the club this January, with his dad talking up a potential switch to their Europa League opponents.
Amid speculation linking the centre-back to Fiorentina, Fazio's dad Franco is quoted by FirenzeViola.it [via Tuttomercatoweb] discussing how he would love to see his son play in Italy.
Fazio signed for Tottenham in 2014 but is now only regarded as a back-up and has barely featured this season.
He said: "Right now there are many teams that are taking information about him, more or less throughout Europe. The Purple is one of the possibilities, but still there has been no direct contact.
"His little use anyway is not helpful either to Tottenham or my son. Federico just needs to get back to feeling important, just as in Seville.
"Florence, would certainly be a welcome solution. It would be a pride for us if in fact Federico played in Italy, the land of our family."
Spurs have Kevin Wimmer as third choice behind Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, while Eric Dier is also capable of playing at centre-back. Promising defender Cameron Carter-Vickers remains an option, meaning if Spurs sell Fazio they are not in need of signing a replacement.
If he signed with Fiorentina, Fazio would not be eligible to face Spurs in the Europa League when the two sides meet in the knockout rounds of the competition in February.
