Forestieri did not start the Championship game at the Riverside Stadium, but he came on at half time.
During his time on the pitch, the 25-year-old, who can play as a striker or as an attacking midfielder, took three shots, had a pass accuracy of 67%, put in two crosses and attempted one dribble.
The former Watford man failed to lead the Owls to the three points, though, as Middlesbrough won the encounter 1-0.
Christian Stuani’s goal in the opening minute of the match proved to be the difference between the two sides.
The Owls are seventh in the Championship table at the moment with 36 points from 24 matches, just a point behind Ipswich Town, who are currently sixth and occupy the final playoff spot.
Wednesday fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on the performance of Forestieri against Middlesbrough.

The game changed when Forestieri was introduced. Shows his importance to us. Without him we're lacking in energy, drive and ability. #swfc— SWFC Transfers (@S6Transfers) December 28, 2015
I was singing #swfc praises today for Forestieri signing.Comments were along lines of maybe has attitude issues. Too tired today apparently?— phil ridley (@pjridders) December 28, 2015

Better second half. No surprise Forestieri makes us 100x better. 6th spot is a tease #swfc— Oliver Booth (@ol_booth) December 28, 2015
We're too reliant on Forestieri, need to go and get someone of a similar quality in January. He can't keep carrying us #swfc— Rob (@Robtheowl95) December 28, 2015
Sometimes you have to throw the dice and put the best we have out and give them some, just shows what a difference Forestieri makes. #swfc— Rhys Oakes (@Oakeesss) December 28, 2015
So frustrating that we didn't play in the first half like we did in the second half. Such a poor goal to concede. Forestieri is key #swfc— Matt Harris (@MattHarris6) December 28, 2015
