According to the Daily Mail, Southampton are expecting bids for Oriol Romeu in the January transfer window.
Celta Vigo have kept tabs on Romeu’s progress since he moved to St. Mary’s from Chelsea in the summer, and the Spanish side have been encouraged that they could do a deal for the central midfielder.
Romeu has had a peripheral role to play since moving to Southampton, and he hasn’t been able fully convince Ronald Koeman of his quality.
Romeu has made 18 appearances for the Saints to date, but his chances have been more limited since Jordy Clasie’s return from injury.
Southampton are said to be keen to keep hold of the 24-year-old, as they want to make additions rather than lose players in January.
But Celta Vigo believe that a move back to his homeland would appeal to the central midfielder, and they are set to make a bid in the new year to test the Saints' resolve.
