One of the key factors behind Leicester’s success this season has been a consistent first-team eleven.
While that’s a big bonus to those playing regularly, others such as Inler have had to sit out on the side-lines for much of the campaign and feature only sporadically from the substitutes bench.
His situation has prompted talk of a potential January exit, and after allegedly turning down a move to Sampdoria the Swiss star now looks set to join Bundesliga outfit Schalke
“Inler had an offer from Sampdoria, but his position hasn't changed- he isn't interested in joining Montella's squad. Instead Inler is on the verge of joining Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga,” the report reads.
The 31-year-old only joined Leicester last summer from Serie A side Napoli but has struggled to break in to the first-team, making only four Premier League appearances thus far.
The superb displays of N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater have restricted Inler’s chances, and with the duo performing such a key role for the side the situation doesn’t seem likely to change any time soon.
Schalke currently lie in sixth position in the Bundesliga table, two points off the top four.
