Andy Walker believes Celtic will stick with Ronny Deila.

Former Celtic striker Andy Walker has told SkySports he believes the club will stick with manager Ronny Deila despite their poor performances in Europe this season.

He also believes his former side will prove too strong for Aberdeen in the title race, and will invest in the upcoming transfer window to ensure they win the league.

He said: "I know Aberdeen are pushing them at the movement and they have improved but I think Celtic will do some business in January and that will enable them to stretch away from the rest and I’m sure Ronny Deila will come up again with the league title.

“They are favourites for the treble and that would be a big call to dismiss a Celtic manager who has won the treble, I don’t think Celtic would do it, but I’m just wondering if they are serious about making progress in Europe and getting back into the Champions League.”

Celtic did not get past the Champions League qualifying stages once again this year, but their record in the Europa League was a case of regression.

In their first season under Deila they reached the knockout rounds, and did themselves proud over two legs against Inter Milan before being defeated, but this season was much more disappointing.

They were knocked out at the group stages without winning a single game, and pressure has grown on Deila as a result despite his domestic success last season, with memories of recent glorious Champions League victories over Barcelona and Manchester United still fresh in the consciousness of fans.

In the Scottish Premiership Celtic are top of the table by one point, with one game in hand over Aberdeen who are in second place.
