Tottenham Hotspur fans react to Kieran Trippier's performance v Watford

Kieran Trippier started as Tottenham beat Watford.

Summer signing Kieran Trippier has had to bide his time at Tottenham, but is showing he might be about to kick on.

The full-back has had to wait on the bench due to Kyle Walker's impressive performances, restricted only to playing Europa League games.

He began those not so well, but towards the end of the group stages began to improve, and Mauricio Pochettino gave him his first Premier League start for the club against Watford.

Beforehand he had played only eight minutes of league football this season, but his display against the Hornets sent a message that he is ready for more.

The former Burnley defender provided the cross for Heung-Min Son to score the crucial winning goal.

Trippier's crossing was an area he excelled in statistically last season, although he had mixed success yesterday. He attempted nine crosses, of which only two were accurate - but crucially one of these was a vital assist.

This is a testament to his faith in his ability and determination to get it right, and as Tottenham's attackers get used to his deliveries and he adjusts to them, there is likely to be improvement.

Defensively he recorded one tackle and three interceptions - the latter being a figure matched only by Toby Alderweireld among the back four.

His performance drew plenty of praise from supporters, who commented on Twitter about his impact. Here is a look at a selection of the comments...
