Leeds United failed to win against Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Sunday evening.

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans suggested on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday evening why club chairman Massimo Cellino will be pleased with the team after the draw with Nottingham Forest.

The Whites failed to win against Forest at the City Ground in the Championship on Sunday evening, playing out a 1-1 draw.

Nelson Oliveira took advantage of a mix-up in the Leeds defence to put the home team in the lead in the 17th minute.

The West Yorkshire outfit, though, staged a comeback and equalised in the 80th minute through a low strike from Sam Byram.

Evans has suggested that Cellino will not be too displeased with the result due to the team’s intent to win the game, as shown by his substitutions.

The Scot said on Sky Sports 1 after the match on Sunday evening: “He (Cellino) always looks at one thing: the substitutions off the bench.

“Did we try to win the game, did we try and create chances rather than defend when Forest had probably their best little spell?

“No. We bring a couple of strikers onto the pitch and end up with four strikers on the pitch who can all score a goal.”

Over the course of the 90 minutes at the City Ground, visitors Leeds had 61% of the possession, took 15 shots of which only two were on target, and earned six corners.

The West Yorkshire outfit will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on promotion-chasing Derby County at Elland Road in the Championship.
