Photos: Sir Alex Ferguson watches Manchester United's draw with Chelsea

Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United's legendary manager was in the stands as always to watch the side's attempt to bounce back.

Clock ticking Louis?

Sir Alex Ferguson was present at Old Trafford as ever to watch the Red Devils take on Chelsea.

Manager Louis van Gaal is now eight games without a win in all competitions, with United managing only a 0-0 draw.

In three games against the Blues under Van Gaal's management, United have recorded just two points, scoring just once.

What Sir Alex is thinking is anybody's guess? Is he relieved he is no longer the man facing the criticism from the media after a poor result, or is he cursing his decision to retire, knowing he could be leading United to success?

An ever present and home and away fixtures as a club director, Fergie being there, but not being part of the team seems a waste - but that is only because his successors have so far been substandard.

Louis van Gaal is failing to produce results, in a year without a standout candidate to win a league title. At this rate his United side will be fortunate to finish in the top four, something they never had to worry about under Ferguson.
