Paul Merson not convinced Tottenham Hotspur can beat Watford today

The Sky Sports pundit believes Spurs will have to settle for a draw.

Tottenham Hotspur go into the game with Watford today hoping to follow on from their 3-0 win against Norwich City in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

Two goals from Harry Kane and a first Premier League goal from Tom Carroll did the job for Spurs as they continued to get back to winning ways in the league following up the win against Southampton last weekend.

However, despite their good form, Watford will be no pushovers. The Hornets were unlucky to only draw with Chelsea on Boxing Day and had preceded that result with a 3-0 tonking of Liverpool.

With all that taken into consideration, one Sky pundit is not sure Spurs can pick up the win.

Paul Merson predicted a 1-1 draw between the two sides in his Sky Sports prediction column this week:

"I'm looking forward to this one. It's an excellent derby game. Watford have been brilliant so far this season and I'm expecting a tough game for the Hornets, even after a really good draw at Stamford Bridge.

"It's going to be close and I think Tottenham, who are coming off an impressive win, have enough to get a point at Vicarage Road. There's not a lot between the two sides at the moment."

Of course there is every reason to come to such a conclusion. Watford and Spurs are both flying and could cancel each other out at Vicarage Road.

However, with Spurs now being mentioned as dark horses for the Premier League title, these are the games they need to be winning to prove their credentials.
