The Scottish youngster put in an impressive performance from the bench.
Forest played on the back foot against a Leeds side who dominated the ball and it almost paid off with the three points easily almost staying at the City Ground.
In the end, they counted themselves unlucky for a late strike that hammered the post of Marco Silvestri;s goal.
The player who hit the strike, was Oliver Burke.
He was thrown on late on to try and win the game for Forest, in place of the more controlling influence of David Vaughan.
It was a gamble that nearly paid off when his half volley took a wicked bounce and slammed the upright.
The 18-year-old Scotland Under-19 international is a player that Forest have high hopes for and this little cameo was yet another sign of his potential.
As well as quick and direct he is physically imposing beyond his tender years and the teenager looks like a bright prospect for the future.
Here is how the Forest fans reacted to his performance on Twitter...
Oliver Burke came on for last 10 mins very lively ought to be given more time #NFFC— Latif Kaba (@elsakplc) December 27, 2015
Let's not put pressure on Oliver Burke. Superb when he came on, but fans expecting him to take the world by storm after 10 mins is mad #nffc— Christian Brown (@Chris78901) December 27, 2015
Must admit, I would not have brought Burke on, however, he looked quality and deserves more chances this season #NFFC— Shaun Marshall (@aryan86) December 27, 2015
Here's an idea for Cardiff... Start Oliver Burke instead of Mendes #NFFC— Daniel Beeston (@NFFC_LowerBC) December 27, 2015
Missing Pinillos. Liked Oli Burke. Sat on it too much for my liking. #NFFC— Ruth Greaves (@Ruthie300) December 27, 2015
Think DF was too negative today, we can't sit back every game and keep holding out. Ollie Burke looked good! A draw was fair #nffc— Jamie Stone (@JamieStone1986) December 27, 2015
Oliver Burke made more runs at Leeds back 4 on his own in 10 mins than the rest of the team managed all game #nffc— Will D'Hooghe (@willdhooghe) December 27, 2015
Oliver Burke should start ahead of mendes on Tuesday against Cardiff freshen it up a bit #nffc— @forest4eversteve (@biltonsteve) December 27, 2015
Gotta give Freedman the credit for having the balls to bring Oli Burke on, was an inch to the right off being a genius substitution #nffc— George (@_GeorgeNFFC_) December 27, 2015
Ollie Burke looked lively though and I honestly thought his half volley was in, great strike #nffc— Steve (@mistrollingin) December 27, 2015
