West Ham drew 1-1 at Villa Park and supporters gave the 25-year-old a bit of stick...
A Villa equaliser, however, left West Ham with their sixth draw in eight games (they haven't won any of those eight).
Injuries have certainly taken their toll on the Hammers in recent weeks but that fact serves no comfort when Slaven Bilic's men sit as low as 10th in the Premier League table. After their promising start to the domestic season, few would have envisaged such a quick slide down the standings. But it was always a risk if key members of the West Ham squad were to succumb to fitness problems.
That's exactly what has happened and their replacements haven't quite delivered as of yet. Michail Antonio is one example. Yes, the 25-year-old should be given time but there has been a lot of impatience aimed in his direction already.
Indeed, against Aston Villa, Antonio failed to impress a lot of West Ham fans. Some have defended the forward and suggest their fellow supporters should wait for the former Forest man to come good. Others, however, want more from a multi-million pound signing...
Antonio is awful, bad first touch, bad shooting, just doesn't have a clue what he is doing #WHUFC— Mark David (@markdavid_91) December 26, 2015
This is so poor.. Antonio looks way out of his depth #WHUFC— Daniel Seery (@dannyseery) December 26, 2015
Don't get me wrong, I do like Antonio, Valencia & Zarate. But I can't wait to have Payet, Lanzini and Sakho back #WHUFC— Lee C (@DjLeeC) December 26, 2015
