The Egyptian international seems to be Arsenal's first January signing.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny recently. The Mirror reported earlier today that a £5 million deal for the player was set to be completed this week as Elneny decided to fly to London from Egypt to settle the deal.
Now a report in Egypt is reporting that the player himself has confirmed to them he is joining Arsenal.
The 23-year-old has told Ahram that he has undergone a medical with the club on Saturday and will sign on the dotted line of his deal later today.
The two clubs have reportedly agreed a £6.5 million fee for the player and it looks like a deal could be confirmed in January.
Elneny has been impressing in the Europa League and Swiss Super League for several seasons now. The 23-year-old combative midfielder should provide sufficient cover for Francis Coquelin and will certainly hope to push on and become the starting defensive midfielder for The Gunners.
He first headed to Europe from El Mokawloon in 2013 and is an established Egyptian international.
Hopefully the deal does come through as Arsenal would have a real rough diamond in their ranks.
