Paul Merson has written in The Daily Star that Arsenal must win their next three Premier League games.
The Gunners are in good form at the moment and have won their four matches in all competitions so far this month.
Arsenal got the better of Manchester City 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Monday night.
Arsene Wenger’s side will return to league action on Boxing Day when they face Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The North London outfit will then face Bournemouth at the Emirates on Monday and take on Newcastle United at home on January 2.
Former Arsenal attacker Merson has stated that he wants Wenger’s side to pick up all nine points from their next three league games.
The former England international has also claimed that Wenger should leave his managerial post at Arsenal at the end of the season if he fails to guide Arsenal to the Premier League title this term.
“Arsenal will never have a better chance to lift the title,” Merson has written in The Daily Star. “If Arsene Wenger doesn’t win it this season he has to go.
“They should take nine points from their next three games and prove themselves. They’re at Southampton tomorrow, who have been atrocious the last few months.
“If Arsenal don’t take maximum points from these three games then beating City will count for nothing. It will have been meaningless.”
