The young defender has emerged as one of the best up and coming stars in world football over the last few years, with his performances for the Blues earning rave reviews from many Premier League observers.
Among his best traits is his ability to run with the ball, with him often seen striding out of defence and taking on opposition players.
That is a stark contrast to the type of football fans are accustomed to seeing from English defenders, and Lineker has said that it is an absolute delight to see an English defender so comfortable on the ball.
What an absolute delight it is to watch an English central defender play in such a relaxed manner on the ball. John Stones is a class act.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) December 26, 2015
“What an absolute delight it is to watch an English central defender play in such a relaxed manner on the ball. John Stones is a class act,” he wrote on Twitter during Everton's Premier League game against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
While Stones has been ever present and impressive for Everton yet again this season, it is yet to be seen if he will be a regular for England this summer.
The youngster has been arguably among the Three Lions' best central defenders alongside Chris Smalling this season, but he has often found himself in the right-back position or as a squad player under Roy Hodgson.
Chelsea’s Gary Cahill has often been chosen ahead of him, though, but he has struggled this season so far, and Stones must surely be confident of being a regular at Euro 2016 with this kind of form.
