The MOTD presenter had a cheeky dig at his prime minister today.
The result was an important for Villa but probably still a little little compared to what they need.
Villa remain off the radar at the bottom of the Premier League table with just eight points from the game.
It could have been a lot worse. They were 1-0 down to an Aaron Cresswell strike and it looked like they might be heading to another Premier League defeat.
When West Ham took the lead Gary Lineker, presenter of the BBC's Match of the Day programme and former England international striker, made a joke about the goal - in reference to prime minister David Cameron.
Earlier in the year the British prime minister famously got the two teams mixed up when he claimed to be a football fan, in a poorly reasoned attempt to seem like a normal human being. It backfired and he is now the but of Lineker's jokes:
West Ham score against Aston Villa and David Cameron jumps for joy......no sorry he holds his head in desolation!— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) December 26, 2015
The result ended up 1-1 so if Villa and West Ham are equally among the hearts of Cameron he might have ended up happy after all.
