Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has written on Betvictor.com that Tottenham Hotspur cannot avoid any more slip-ups if they are to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Tottenham suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United at White Hart Lane earlier this month.
The North London outfit, though, did bounce back with a 2-0 victory over Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium last weekend.
On Boxing Day, Spurs will face Norwich City at White Hart Lane, and Owen has warned Mauricio Pochettino’s side against losing the Premier League encounter.
“A great result for the Canaries at Old Trafford but I think they will find life a bit tougher at the Lane; Spurs must still be ruing how they let three points slip against the Magpies in their last home game and cannot afford any further slip-ups if they are to be realistic title contenders,” the former Newcastle striker has written on Betvictor.com.
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Spurs -1 at 11/10.”
Tottenham will be favourites to win against Norwich on Saturday afternoon, but they cannot be complacent.
The Canaries are one of the relegation candidates, but they got the better of Manchester United 2-1 away from home at Old Trafford last weekend and will head into the game against Spurs with confidence.
A defeat for Tottenham will be damaging to their hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League and will probably put an end to their remote chances of winning the title this season.
