Tottenham Hotspur may make a signing or two next month.
According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign players with experience of English football if he does dip into the transfer market next month.
The January transfer window is just around the corner and Tottenham will not want to see their early-season progress halted in 2016, meaning it would be no surprise if Pochettino did seek to strengthen his already impressive squad if the right player comes along.
It remains to be seen if it will be that easy, but the Tottenham manager has told the Standard the kind of player he wants at White Hart Lane, potentially ruling out some of the big-name stars linked in recent weeks.
“I prefer to take players from England first,” Pochettino said, “from the Premier League, the Championship or League One.
“For players from abroad to adapt to the Premier League, the culture, the language is difficult.”
The report claims Tottenham are currently considering West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino and Fulham’s Moussa Dembele – two young strikers who would add excitement and additional threat to Spurs’ forward-line.
Both have experience of playing in England but neither would be easy to sign at this stage of the campaign and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy may have to be at his very best to push a deal over the line.
