Joe Bennett returns to Aston Villa from Bournemouth with Achilles injury

The left-back will hope to get back in action as soon as possible.

Aston Villa have yet another left-back available after Joe Bennett was also sent back to the club this week from his loan spell at AFC Bournemouth.

The Bournemouth Echo reported yesterday that the left-back's loan deal at the club was cut short after he failed to make an impact at Dean Court and suffered with injury troubles whilst with The Cherries.

They claim that the left-back was sent back to Villa to have treatment on an Achilles injury after not featuring once for the newly promoted South Coast outfit.

Bennett, who signed a one-year contract extension at Villa prior to his Bournemouth move, has not featured for Villa since scoring in a 5-3 win against Notts County in the Capital One Cup back in August.

Villa, who also saw Aly Cissokho recently return from a loan deal with Porto, are short at left-back. Summer signing Jordan Amavi is out for the season with a knee injury whilst Kieran Richardson has been in poor form this season.

Leandro Bacuna has recently been deputising in the position.

When Bennett recovers from his current injury he will hope to take that left-back spot for himself for the duration of the season.
