The Dane feels signing another midfielder could be a big move for the side.
Former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby has said the most important part of the side the Reds need to address is at the heart of the team, writing in his Liverpool Echo column that the club needs to buy a creative midfielder if possible during the January transfer window.
The Reds have central midfielders but none can do the job that Molby seems to be outlining, in his opinion, especially in possession.
The Dane said: "For me the most vital requirement is somebody creative in midfield, who can pick the right pass and get the team moving forwards.
"At the moment we have Emre Can who is showing a lot of good things but is still relatively inexperienced.
"Alongside that you’ve got Lucas and he’s always been a very careful passer – what we need is bang the opposite of that, somebody who will gamble on a ball and perhaps open a team up.
"Believe me, the difference this type of player could have on the whole team is massive."
Liverpool do seem to have several players who can do different things in the middle. They have players that can keep things simple with the ball, break up the play and have a lot of energy - but no one to really find that killer pass.
Ever since Jurgen Klopp has been appointed manager, there has been talk about the transition play that his Borussia Dortmund side once had, which is one thing his Liverpool side has yet to grasp.
He has spoken time and again of giving his existing squad every opportunity to succeed and prove themselves before the end of the season. He probably feels the player that Molby outlines is part of the current squad, but needs work on the training field.
If not, then the summer may be the time when Klopp could move for such a midfielder.
