Newcastle United are currently just one place above the relegation zone.
The Magpies have shown their quality in recent weeks with wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
However, they dropped points at home to Aston Villa in their most recent outing and Anita feels that their failure to put together a run of wins could ultimately cost them.
“The consistency is the quality we need,” he said. “That has to change. You can see we have a good team that should stay up.
"And we have shown that. But we have to keep on the level and win games.
“It is not just the first XI. The guys on the bench can come on and score.”
Newcastle are currently just one place above the drop zone, but their chances of survival would have looked very bleak if it was not for a resurgence of late.
The Magpies have taken seven points from the last nine available to them, moving them up the Premier League standings as a result.
One of the major reasons behind this up-turn in form has been the performances of Anita, who has been resurgent under Steve McClaren.
Anita had been much more of a fringe player last season, but he has become a key part of McClaren’s first team at St. James’ Park.
Anita has already made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, with his performances being of a consistently high level.
