Steve Evans speaks about Tommaso Bianchi's, Casper Sloth's and Kalvin Phillips' chances of starting for Leeds United

Leeds United have two matches in three days over the Christmas period.

Manager Steve Evans has told BBC Radio Leeds that Tommaso Bianchi, Casper Sloth and Kalvin Phillips are all champing at the bit for a chance at Leeds United.

The trio have all had a limited amount of chances in Leeds’ first-team this season, for differing reasons.

However, Evans has suggested that they could receive an opportunity over the coming days, as Leeds face a demanding schedule during the Christmas and New Year period.

“People like Tommo Bianchi, Casper Sloth and young Kalvin Phillips are suddenly champing at the bit,” Evans said.

“They must see this next 10 days as an opportunity to be starting a game in this famous shirt that we represent.”

The Whites’ next match comes against Nottingham Forest on 27 December and they then face Derby County just two days later.

It means that Leeds' squad will have little time to recover between the matches, and that could force Evans to make changes.

If midfielders Bianchi or Sloth do get a chance to appear for Leeds, it will be their first opportunity of the season.

Bianchi has missed much of the campaign so far with injury, while Sloth has just not been selected with other options preferred despite his impressive outings for the Whites' under-21s.

Phillips, meanwhile, has been handed fleeting chances in Leeds’ first-team, but he has not been able to force his way into the starting line-up as yet.
