According to a report from The Sun, Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is poised to re-join former club Southampton on loan in January.
Chambers, 20, joined Southampton at the age of just seven, before making his way up through the club's famed academy, just as players like Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale did too.
After an outstanding 2013-14 season, Chambers chose to move on from St. Mary's Stadium, and joined Premier League rivals Arsenal in a huge deal.
England recognition followed after a bright start to the 2014/15 season, but his displays tailed off, and after the Gunner signed Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal last January, he has barely featured.
Now, The Sun report that Arsenal will loan Chambers back to Southampton to give him first-team football - but the deal depends on Mathieu Debuchy.
The French full back has been displaced by Hector Bellerin as Arsenal's first choice right back, but manager Arsene Wenger allegedly wants to make sure that the 30-year-old stays at the Emirates Stadium before letting Chambers leave, given that he provides as cover for Bellerin and Debuchy.
Able to play at right back, centre back or in holding midfield, Chambers should still have a bright future ahead of him - but it may take a return to his former club to recapture his best form, and return to Arsenal a much better player.
