Considering what Aston Villa's starting line-up could look like in the early part of 2016.
It is fair to say things are not going quite according to plan at Aston Villa right now.
Having signed a number of new players in the summer, manager Tim Sherwood was later shown the door after failing to blend them into an effective team and new boss Remi Garde is struggling to repair the damage.
Villa are currently bottom of the Premier League with just seven points from 17 matches and despite their 1-1 draw against Newcastle United at the weekend there is still a huge amount of work to be done if Garde’s men are to remain a top flight club beyond this season.
One way Villa could look to improve is to invest during the January transfer window, and while Garde’s primary job is to ensure those he adopted play to their full potential there is still the possibility the Frenchman could bring a new player or two into the club.
One position in particular where Villa are likely to strengthen is at left-back following Jordan Amavi’s season-ending injury, and former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole could well be on the way following comments Garde gave in an interview to Sky Sports earlier this month.
Then there is the possibility of Andros Townsend swapping Tottenham Hotspur’s under-21s for a spell at Villa Park, and bringing in a player desperate to secure a place in England’s Euro 2016 squad could be a master-stroke.
The problem is, according to a recent report from the Daily Mail Villa are not the only club interested in the 24-year-old.
However, there is a chance, no matter how slim, that this could be Villa’s starting XI come 2016:
