Dimitri Payet has confirmed that his return for West Ham United is imminent on social media this afternoon.
The French attacking midfielder had been in wonderful form following his summer move, but he has been out with a knee injury since the start of November.
Payet was injured during West Ham’s match against Everton, when James McCarthy put in a hefty challenge on him.
The 28-year-old was expected to be set for a lengthy absence, but judging from his message on Twitter it seems that his comeback is not too far away.
Payet’s return for West Ham will be a great relief for supporters of Slaven Bilic’s side, as they have not been the same without the former Marseille man.
Payet scored five times in his first 14 appearances for the Hammers, and he also created masses of chances for his teammates.
Since he has been sidelined Bilic’s men have struggled and they have failed to win any of their last seven matches, playing out three consecutive 0-0 draws.
That poor run of results has seen them slip down to eighth in the Premier League table after their very promising start.
As well as Payet, the Hammers are also currently without Manuel Lanzini, Diafra Sakho, Victor Moses and Andy Carroll due to injury, with their attacking options serious depleted as a result.
