Tottenham and Leicester move for Jordan Wheatley

HITC Sport understands that battle is on for Ilkeston starlet.

Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City have made bids for in-demand non-league starlet Jordan Wheatley, HITC Sport understands.

The 17-year-old is one of the stars of Ilkeston's youth squad who made it to the third round of the FA Youth Cup before being beaten narrowly by Newcastle last week, in a game which attracted scouts from more than 40 clubs.

Brighton had previously had a bid accepted for Wheatley but the deal fell through when terms could not be agreed.

But the Championship promotion hopefuls have not give up hope and are back in for the young defender, but now there is major competition for his signature.

Spurs and Leicester have now stepped up with firm offers, whilst HITC Sport understands that both Arsenal and Derby are ready to make offers.

It is understood that up to half-a-dozen of Ilkeston's youth squad could be set for moves in the near future with Rhys Dolan, Lewis Walker, son of former England ace Des, Jamie Hannis and Haydn Goddard all attracting serious interest.
