Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a move for former Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor in the January transfer window.

Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that the club are interested in signing Emmanuel Adebayor in the January transfer window.

On Monday, Sky Sports paper round-up detailed The Sun’s claim that Wednesday want to recruit the former Tottenham Hotspur striker next month (click here to read more).

Adebayor is a free agent at the moment, having left Premier League outfit Tottenham in September.

According to The Sun, Spurs are still paying the 31-year-old Togolese striker’s £100,000-a-week wage and will continue to do so until he finds a new club or until the end of the season.

Wednesday are playing in the Championship at the moment, and their impressive results so far this season suggest that they could be pushing for a playoff spot.

The Owls are seventh in the league table at the moment with 33 points from 22 matches. Carlos Carvalhal’s side are just a point behind Ipswich Town, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

Wednesday fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on the speculation linking the club with Adebayor, who has also played for Arsenal and Manchester City.
